BizIn – Unlike most fishmongers who only dress modestly, a fishmonger from West Java, who is familiarly called Kevin, is dressed neatly like a statesman, attracting the attention of buyers. Kevin sells his own processed Cue Fish by riding a motorbike around the complex in a full suite.
He started processing the fish after selling them around every day. Processed and cooked around 17.00 WIB until noon. Every 5:30 AM, he is ready to sell the fish around the complex and through the narrow alleys in Bekasi.
As a fishmonger, he sells Cue Fish, Presto Milkfish, and Skipjack Fish. Usually the area he explores is around Jati Makmur, Bekasi City. He selling the fish by motorbike around Jatirahayu, Jatimkar, Bojong, Antara, Rawa Bogo, Cilepuk, Kodau, Pondokgede, Griya Taman Mini, and surrounding areas.
Kevin traded around the complex on a motorbike that he rode with 3 large pots behind him. There was no shame or hesitation; he continued to drive his motorbike around the complex while shouting his wares, breaking the morning atmosphere on the residential streets.
Kevin started selling since 2012 and decided to change his new appearance around August 2021. He goes around offering milkfish and cue tuna. These processed fish are sold at various prices ranging from IDR 6 thousand to IDR 20 thousand per fish.
Initially, Kevin sold fish by carrying fish around the complex and down narrow alleys. But then, when he had customers, in 2016 he started using motorbikes. Besides processed fish, he also brought petai and opaque fish.
Kevin admits that since selling in a suit, his fish sales have increased. Before wearing a suit, he could get a net profit of IDR 200 thousand, but now it can reach IDR 350 thousand per day. In addition to the increased turnover, he also admitted that many women like his new style.
With a capital of IDR 400 thousand, Kevin can buy a used suit complete with shoes. Until now, he has had 3 suits that he can use to sell the fish.
